TankLARP is the first larp in the UK to have use of Military vehicles as part of the game.

As a Tanker, learn to drive, shoot and load a machine of war and take it into combat against enemy Tank Aces. As a Trooper, join the fight on the front lines. Troopers will either fight on the front lines against enemy forces or load up into a 10-man APC to be driven to far reaching engagements

A Lone continent, seeded with early humans as a work force for a powerful race of ancient beings. After the exodus, humans were left to their own devices. Their Dark Age resulted in a Magic-industrial revolution involving the element they were brought to mine. Then, the Mechanical Horde arrived. They almost succeeded in ridding the continent of all life until Centra, the human inhabitants of the only functioning Ancient city stood up to stop them. The ensuing calamity resulted in the Mechanical Horde and the Centrans Blinking out of existence, leaving vacant homes, resources and, more importantly, their machines, the only machines usable by humans in the continent.

The Unified Kingdoms of Gulldahn and the Revaaran Empire were the nations that got their hands on the technology first. A meeting of all the nations rulers put down an Accord for war on the continent to help them prepare for more threats like the mechanical horde, meaning war stays away from civilian populaces and more chivalrous than it has been.
Now it is an arms race, the ones to conquer the City of Centra can rule the continent, but other nations, and other forces at work, have their own plans

What Makes Your Events Friendly to New Players?

Many reasons really. Beyond the complete envelope of science fiction, horror, and fantasy we pride ourselves on welcoming all people everywhere and giving them a safe space to play and escape from the real world. We also are very SAGA ( Sexual and Gender Acceptance) orientated. The world is a scary place, better to face fake fears to gain the courage to face the ones in the real world.

How Frequently do you run events

Once a month; and no players don’t need to attend every event. We tend to not do game in from December to February, due to winter months here in Canada.

What are the facilities like?

In the middle of a rules update and site relocation, once we find a workable site, we will be running games again.

Tell us anything else you would like to about Your Game World, and How Your Events Work

A boffer LARP that includes elements of horror, science fiction and fantasy as meat to a post apocalyptic skeletal frame work, it is set in an alternate reality timeline, everything changed in 1947. Roswell is more than just a conspiracy theorist’s wet-dream, it is a nightmare come to life, and the war of the worlds is no longer a great story that Orson Welles terrified the world with. It is a war-time mentality, “every man for themself” meets “we have to work together or none of us will survive.” There are built-in mechanics that create discourse amoungst the various Factions, which can, on occasion erupt into violence.

At the moment, we run day events, and have NPC shifts called Rift watches, where everyone gets a chance to experience the world from “behind the curtain”.

What Makes Events Friendly to New Players?

As this is a blockbuster-style event catering to both experienced and inexperienced larpers, we’re going to begin each event with a tutorial session that includes — among many other things — some basics on improvisational acting and character-building. Our event is deliberately written and designed to be as inclusive to players of various experience levels as possible.

How Frequently do you run events

For our 2019, we will be running two events: November 8-10 and November 15-17. Both events will be relatively identical, but with two different crew of 120 players.

What are the facilities like?

Our event is hosted aboard the USS Edson, a decommissioned naval ship in Bay City, Michigan. For the purposes of the event, the Edson will be outfitted with touch-screen panels and other technologies to simulate the interior of a starship. In addition, we will be using moveable trailers and additional locations in the Bay City, MI area to simulate the existence of other ships within the fleet which some players may visit.

Our promotional description of the event:
“The Outbound Hope Mission is a multi-day, live-action role-playing event intended to give players the realistic, immersive experience of being aboard a space-bound starship. Hosted within the interior of the decommissioned USS Edson in Bay City, Michigan, players will be engaged in three days of exciting science-fiction adventures and missions. For the duration of the event, the Edson will be outfitted to serve as the Ascendant Dawn, a military vessel leading a fleet of colonists into the unknown. With a crew of over 100 individuals, players will need to work together – and against each other – to fulfill duties and objectives unique to their character.” Our game world itself is based heavily on a gritty, real-world future as hinted at by modern scientific and political projections. Plausible science and experience (alongside play-ability) is a major piece of our worldbuilding efforts. The game itself is established in two blockbuster-style events in November of 2018. For players, registration price includes food, lodging, unique characters, and full costuming/gear. For more details, check out our “about” page at https://outboundhope.com/about-the-event/.

The Amtgard Larp Rules

The Amtgard Larp Rules

Amtgard Larp

Amtgard is a major fantasy boffer larp in the United States. It uses the common American convention of “chapters”. Chapters are clubs that agree to all play by the same rules. This allows  Amtgard to federate itself over a large area. The result is that you’ll find this system all over the USA and also in other continents. For example continental Europe.

The Larp Rule Books

As an organisation, it has developed considerable support for its members. This includes the rulebooks referenced via this post. In fact, it has its own library of books.

The link here not only gives access to the main rulebook. but also supporting monster rules. Additionally, there is support for chapters as well.

The Amtgard documents are here

However, if you need more information; it exists. There is a Wiki. And a rules discussion/clarification group on Facebook.

Want to See Your Larps Rulebook featured?

How Much Plot is Tailored to individual Characters?  It Varies

How Long Has the Group Been Running For?    7 years

How Frequently do you run events and for a players what is the commitment level to attend all events like?

Events usually occur twice a year around April and September. Each event stands alone, with running themes being propagated from one to the next. Participants may adopt different characters at each event with only the fictional setting and game format remaining the same. This allows for players to vary their experiences and miss events without penalty.

Typically What Are the Facilities Like at your Game Sites?  The regular site is woodland with a covered ‘out of game’ area. Facilities include a site shop, toilets and lunch options if required.

Finally Tell us anything else you would like to about Your Game World, and How Your Events Work

Criminal Contact is a unique open world roleplay event based around a functioning economy, where characters supply and demand various items for players to trade, transport, smuggle or steal. While players may ‘unlock’ airsoft firearms to use at these events, it is important to note that firefights have consequences! In short, this is NOT a regular airsoft skirmish disguised with a theme.

Describe Your Game Genre: High Fantasy, but we also sometimes run low fantasy or horror events.

Who Creates Characters: A Combination of Both

How Much Plot is Tailored to individual Characters?: It Varies

How Long Has the Group Been Running For?:
Over 10 years – we had an initial run which was a 10 year campaign in our high fantasy campaign world of Tempress. After a hiatus we came up with low fantasy and horror events. Campaigning in Tempress has just restarted. This new game is set 10 years after the end of the initial campaign

What Makes Your Events Friendly to New Players?:
The referees and world gms do their best to give players background information and include them in plot. Although games are built as part of an ongoing campaign and continuity each event is self contained. So that you don’t need a lot of lore to participate. Role Playing and improvisation is encouraged

How Frequently do you run events and for a players what is the commitment level to attend all events like?:
No commitment to attend all events. Normally we run around 2-4 events year.

Typically What Are the Facilities Like at your Game Sites?:

Facilities are very good. Our games are catered for most meals – the extent of catering  is made clear for each event. We always look for locations with good sleeping facilities. This normally means bunk rooms. And also bathrooms and showers. Most of the sites we play at also have disabled access.

Finally Tell us anything else you would like to about Your Game World, and How Your Events Work:
The majority of games are based in the campaign world of Tempress. This is a high fantasy world with player generated politics

We also run a low fantasy setting based roughly on Dark Ages England at the time of the Viking Raids

On occasion we run horror orientated events.
