I recently found this video on YouTube and found myself caught up in the super exuberant presentation. It was a lot fun to watch. The content itself was cool. A attempt to see if we can find historical references to LARP that take us from antiquity, to the creation of modern larp and then right up to today.

The historical references were to me the most interesting – pointing that playing with story and characters is something that people have been doing for a long time.

The modern day look at nordic larp as it pushes into both art and the mainstream was also worth noting.

The hardest piece of history to cover was the post DnD creation of larp in the 70’s and 80’s. That’s just put to one side. Wisely I think as trying to put that mad period of creativity and simultaneous larp discovery would take a very long documentary to do the period justice.

Here then is the film.
