For this episode Luke is in foreign realms where the hotels (like many hotels) have bad WiFi. Meanwhile a technical hitch stops Thomas from logging on so he lurks in the chat room!

This episode kicks off with a message from across the pond from J Simmons

Comment: Y’all are awesome, and I love your podcast. It’s hard to get larp info and news and ideas; especially since it seems like a lot of the good websites have just sort of disappeared. If you know of any good forums for discussing larp in general, could you share them in the next podcast you record?
Also, I think it would be awesome if you guys did a podcast with Mickey and Bill from Larpcast! You could, like, talk about general larp theory, and compare differences between larps across the pond from each other, and moan about technical difficulties in podcasting.

Our answer comes in two parts. First – yes we’d love to do a show with Mickey and Bill from Larpcast – this has now become a goal to achieve for us.

Forums we found to be a harder matter. It seems that a great many larp clubs and organisations have their own forums. These are fantastic for club  members. It gives people a chance to ask questions and work things out between games. So we’d always say check out the clubs website for sign of a forum

Standalone forums seem rarer. There are a few – for example UK Role Players is a completely standalone larp discussion area. Larping.org also has one and RPG Net seems to have been around forever.  Despite this we all believe that most of the discussion is going on in Facebook. A search in Groups for LARP reveals a lot of options. More than we can list here. Though UK LRP and Larpers BFF.  We’d say search Facebook. A think perhaps we’ll need to look at doing a listing of good Facebook larp groups – that could be really interesting.

We briefly mentioned that we all liked how 2017 had been for us larp wise. We’ve been to more games, and seen old favourites come back to life. We spent more time looking forward and 2018 so far looks like

  • What’s Your Game (kit fair)
  • Twilight Realms
  • Forest Argent
  • Heathen Larp
  • Fear of the Dark
  • Curious Pastimes
  • Green Cloaks
  • Fairweather Manor
  • Larpcon

This is not an exhaustive list. We are looking to add to it. At the moment our genres we’d most like to add to this are Post Apocalyptic and SF. Does anyone want to make a suggestion?

This show had a lively audience making some great comments. I’d like to thank you all for this – for me its the audience who make the show so thank you all. When you get to watch a listen I’m sure you’ll agree.

What’s left is to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
