EVENT BACKGROUND:

“This world needs heroes. This world bleeds for legends…”

Five years have passed since the destruction of the Great, human city of Netherlye, its three gargantuan towers dedicated to the magical arts and built under orders of a corrupt, yet once noble and passionate queen, and her mad son’s army that would have laid waste to much of the free world and its eclectic and vibrant races in a quest for resources and power.

Countless historical wars have torn many civilizations into extinction or brittle fragments and the rifts (thought to lead to other worlds) that now stand ominously where the three towers of Netherlye once proudly ascended are testament to the Forth Age of Neothera: The Age of Uncertainty.

“…This world was once pure…This world was once free from darkness…”

Thousands upon thousands of years ago the pure and valiant, immortal Elves stood as guardians of this world, being sent by the seven gods and goddesses as shepherds to watch over Neothera. But balance must be maintained, and with so much light, darkness was eventually bound to follow…

Vicious hordes of malicious demons, known as the ‘Nightmares’, poured upon the lands and destroyed all but one of the eight, ancient races of Elves, who without the aid of their inherently magical, yet extremely mischievous cousins, the Piskies, would not have won the war and sealed the fate of the world for the greater good.

As time passed and the taint of the Nightmares began to wash away, the rainforests to the southwest would soon awaken the Beastkin, who were born as direct descendants of the God of Nature himself. But a few years later a rift would open once again, this time paving the way for thousands upon thousands of primitive, human refugees who were fleeing their homeland from an evil that resembled that of the demonic and virulent ‘Nightmares’ themselves.

Centuries passed in the blink of an eye and the humans had almost forgotten that their ancestors fled their homelands for threat of annihilation at the hands of demons. Their artisans became masters of their crafts and scholars developed a great understanding of the world with the aid of the remaining Elves, pushing each realms advancement further up the evolutionary ladder. It was only a matter of time before the curious humans realised the potential of the elemental power that the seven gods and goddesses had invested in the lands.

Seeking knowledge from all corners of the world the humans began to harness this energy and master it in its rawest form. Mastery over ‘Magik’ was finally achievable by the human realms…

From the technologically advanced realms of the Blightfoot Gunners, the militant, forthright and trade-rich human capital of the L’enarousse, to the immoral, yet full of comradery town of Black Hammer Bay, the human races of Neothera are beginning to realise that the destruction of the three towers of Netherlye are just the tip of the iceberg that will shake Neothera to it’s very foundations for generations upon generations to come. Coupled with the coming of the Light-Bourne Faeries and the committed, steadfast alliance of the half-human, half-demon race known as the Vulperans, Neothera stands ready to unite against the dark tidings that once again threaten to plunge this world into darkness…

EVENT ONE QUEST:

The L’enaroussian Governor, Phillipe Marsell, has called for valiant adventurers to assist in the investigation and proposed re-acquisition of the town of Blackwater in Northern Neothera. With ever-increasing attacks on the northern realms of Neothera on behalf of bandits, believed to part of the Brotherhood of the Red Wolf (the remnants of the Insane King on Netherlye’s army), those realms of Neothera with good-intent must proceed in protecting the northern settlements before a rain of destruction and slavery is pummeled upon the neutral, human settlements.

Gathering at the Caddington farmstead as a representative of your race or realm, or simply as a sell-sword, you must investigate the surrounding lands of the town of Blackwater and make every effort to claim it back in the name of Phillipe Marsell of the L’enarousse, if it has fallen into the wrong hands.

The townsfolk may be wary of your presence and they may have already succumbed to the Brotherhood’s will, whatever their stance, you must attempt to convince them that the L’enarousse are here to protect them and their families, their assets and their faith in the ‘Seven’ and humankind. Rumours of creatures roaming the darkness should be ignored, our scouts have found no evidence to suggest this place is haunted or indeed occupied by the non-living. However, those who are beyond your persuasion should be dealt with accordingly.

Those who believe they can make a difference should meet with Sire Edmund at the Blackwater Farmstead on the 30th day of the 5th Month of the year 2389. Upon successful acquisition and/or full investigation of the farmstead of Caddington, and suitable service to the L’enaroussian government, each noble adventurer will be gifted riches, and/or items of power/land for their efforts.

Good Luck, and may the will of ‘The Seven’ shine upon you.

Governor Phillipe Marsell
